Abstract
Wilbur Owen Sypherd, former professor and administrator at the University of Delaware, was born on June 28, 1877 in Cecil County, Maryland. Sypherd was a Professor of English and Chairman of the English Department at Delaware College, starting in 1906. He served in these roles until 1944, when he became acting president of the University.
