Abstract The Powell Family papers concern the affairs of Powell's Restaurant, a local business of Newark, Delaware, owned and operated by the Powell family between 1887-1950. Located at 43-45 Main Street, the site upon which the Galleria was built in 1995, it grew from a small oyster and ice cream shop to a restaurant and local ice cream distributor, taking on the name "Powell's Ice Cream Co." in the 1950s.
