Under the City Hall he had some wine from the famous wine cellars, vintage of 1624. Large tobacco business. Free port. Cotton market increasing. Germans are turning to the manufacture of cotton. Business suffering from Danish blockade, expected to be withdrawn. Stays at best hotel, Hellman, at one half the price it would cost in New York.
