Photographs of family art, n.d.

 File — Box: 3, Folder: F120

Scope and Contents

Three identical photographs represent two portrait paintings, and one other photograph depicts the same two portrait paintings and one other. One of the paintings is identifiable as a portrait of Clement Biddle (1740-1814) painted by Bernard Uhle. The other two individuals represented are presumably his first and second wives, Mary Richardson (d. 1773), and Rebekah Cornell. These are presumably the paintings that Alexander Biddle lent to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1887 and 1888 for their Loan Exhibition of Historical Portraits, and are represented as catalog numbers 29-30.
