Scope and Contents

Correspondence, receipts, and the forty-ninth Annual Report of the Philadelphia Orphan Society (1863). Correspondents include prominent Philadelphia socialite and founder of the Orphan's Society Rebecca Gratz (1781-1869), Elizabeth Fisher a member of the Orphan's Society, and husband Alexander Biddle who in 1864 was living in a camp South West of Culpepper, Virginia.
