Notebooks containing autograph drafts and notes. This autobiographical novel is based in the early 1970s when Woolf lived and worked as a messenger in New York City. It covers various periods of Woolf life in New York, including his childhood and youth, as well as contemporary interactions with the literary world and the streets.

Some portions of this autobiographical work have been published in journals and as Loving Ladies. Some of the pages in each notebook are part of a numbered consecutively which continues through the four notebooks. Pages of autograph and typed notes, dialogue, and draft have been laid in. Some of this inserted material is typed on the verso of thesis written by others or on the verso of flyers announcing Vital Statistics. Some of the notebooks also include material for Vital Statistics or notes.
