John Hollander (1929-2013)
American poet and editor John Hollander (1929-2013) was a professor of English at Yale University from 1977 to 1986.
John Hollander authored more than thirty books of poetry, including his first poetry collection, A Crackling of Thorns, which W. H. Auden chose for publication in the Yale Series of Younger Poets in 1958. Hollander also edited numerous anthologies of poetry and contributed verse and prose to New Yorker, Partisan Review, Kenyon Review, Esquire and other contemporary popular and scholarly journals and magazines.
John Hollander's distinguished lifetime of service to American poetry was honored in 2007, when the Poetry Society of America presented him with the Frost Medal.
