Scope and Contents
This collection of papers consists of the material which Fritz S. Rostler gathered, organized and wrote for the University of Delaware course, "Chemical Technology." It also includes a summary of Rostler's education, career, publications, and accomplishments. In addition these papers include nine articles written by Rostler or co-authored with his wife, Kathleen Rostler.

Biographical / Historical
Fritz S. Rostler was a chemist who became a member of the University of Delaware faculty in 1939. He served as a lecturer and fellow in the Department of Chemistry from 1939-1941 and as a Research Professor of Chemistry at the Engineering Experiment Station from 1944-1947. His expertise was in the field of chemical technology. Some of his accomplishments included: developing large scale commercial uses for acid sludges and solvent extracts from petroleum, the introduction of rubber extenders to the rubber industry, pioneering oil-extended rubber abroad, the development of a method of defining high boiling petroleum products, and inventing "coherex" (an agent for controlling soil erosion) and "reclamite" (an agent for rejuvenating asphalt pavements in place). With his wife, Kathleen Rostler, he wrote a number of articles on research related to rubber compounds and asphalt. A number of these articles are found in these papers.
