Content Description

One typed letter and signed written by Cecil Day Lewis to author G. M. Young, with Day Lewis's embossed letterhead on first leaf, dated approximately 1930. The letter (56 typed-lines, with two manuscript annotations, in Day Lewis's pencil holograph) goes on to discuss, in some technical detail, the effects of rising rhythm and verbal stresses on a poem, and the differences between iambic and trochee verse. G.M. Young is the author of a number of books, including, Early Victorian England 1830-1865 and Last Essays; and also edited books of poetry by Thomas Hardy, Tennyson et al.
