Scope and Content Note

Includes one original collage, titled "Death of a City / Kurt Vonnegut." While the artist of the collage is not definitively know, it is possible that the collage was made by Kristian Dane Lawing, whose name appears on the verso. Additional information written in pen on the back of the collage board includes the following: "— 351 / 3-6 Tuesday."

The collage includes the phrase "Death of a City Kurt Vonnegut," which was clipped from an unknown source. The remainder of the collage shows a dead bird laying on top of a New York City manhole cover. The predominant colors in the piece are deep purple, dark pink, and black. Additional details may have been drawn with a white wax crayon and/or pastels.

The collage is permanently affixed to a black mat.

This collage was created at some point in the second half of the twentieth-century by an unknown artist. While the artist is not definitively known, it is possible that the work was created by Kristian Dane Lawing, whose name appears on the back of the board on which the collage was constructed. This may, or may not, be the American cinematographer Kristian Dane Lawing.
