Robert J. Voshell collection of Delaware political ephemera scrapbooks
Scope and Contents
The Robert J. Voshell collection of Delaware political ephemera scrapbooks contains 17 volumes and 2 albums of flyers, clippings, bumper stickers, newsletters, brochures, posters and other ephemeral material pertaining to local, state and federal elections, as well as Delaware government and politics.
This collection of material is believed to have been curated by Robert J. Voshell, former Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles and retired State Senator. The collection is divided into two series.
Series I comprises the 17 scrapbooks, which contain a variety of campaign materials for state, local and federal elections, as well as general information about Delaware government and politics, state political parties, political events (e.g. inaugurations or political events) and general political ephemera, such as letters from government officials to private citizens and copies of speeches. Most of the volumes contain a variety of materials; those volumes containing specific types of materials (e.g. Volume 2: Campaign stickers) or around a certain theme (e.g. Volume 4: Inaugurations) are identified as such.
Series II comprises the two albums, which contain material related to mid-1970 Republican politics in Delaware.
The identified candidates, office sought and campaign years are approximate, based on information available within the collection and other information found through the Delaware Department of Elections website and other online sources.
Candidate informaiton, as available, is displayed using the following formula, in parenthesies: (Party [D= Democrt; R= Republican], Office [members of the state legislature will indicate district number and House or Senate, respectively], Year [a year in square brackets [] indicates an approximate year).
