James Leo Herlihy papers

Playwright and author James Herlihy was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 27, 1927. Herlihy's stories about the underside of American culture, told through the experiences of those outside of the mainstream, have garnered their author comparisons with Sherwood Anderson. The James Leo Herlihy papers consist of 1.6 linear feet of manuscripts of novels, stories, and plays; reviews; interviews; correspondence; publicity material; and notes.
