This autograph letter (signed) from abolitionist Daniel R. Goodloe was sent from Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1857, to an unidentified recipient. The letter regards acceptance of a religious fund collected by abolitionists and its use by the Unitarian Society "for the support of a pro-slavery gospel," as well as the politics of slavery within the church.

Daniel R. Goodloe (1814-1902)
Abolitionist Daniel R. Goodloe (1814-1902) was a journalist and Republican politician from North Carolina. He published the anti-slavery tract Southern Platform in 1858. Previously he wrote the pamphlet, Inquiry into the Causes which have Retarded the Accumulation of Wealth in the Southern States (1848).
