Norman Nicholson - Recent poems : script

 Collection
Identifier: MSS 0099-F0900

Scope and Content Note

Norman Nicholson - Recent Poems is a mimeographed typescript of the script for a reading by British poet Norman Nicholson.

The script consists of readings by Nicholson and unidentified reader, as well Nicholson's commentary on particular poems. The typescript bears a few holograph corrections, deletions, and additions, all made by the author. On page eight Nicholson added a four line commentary regarding the poem, "Have You Been to London?"

All of the poems included in the script appear in Nicholson's collection of poetry, A Local Habitation, which was published in 1972.

Although there is no indication on the typescript itself, it is possible that it was produced for a radio or television program for the British Broadcasting Corporation. Nicholson read and was interviewed for a number of BBC radio and television broadcasts.
