Jayne Mangino ephemera collection
Scope and Content Note
This small collection of three items documents New York photographer Jayne Mangino's passion for photography.
The first item is a typescript photocopy of Tod Papageorge's essay, "Beginning with Snapshots," which belonged to Jayne Mangino. First published in a 1974 issue of Aperture (volume 19, issue 1) which focused on snapshots, this essay later appeared as a chapter in Papageorge's book, Core Curriculum: Writings on Photography (2011).
The other two items in the collection are related to a memorial exhibition of Jayne Mangino's photography, including a brochure, Memorial for Jayne Mangino: a photography exhibition, and a one-page list of the photographs featured in the exhibition. The memorial exhibition was held at the Art-O-Mat Gallery, Long Island City, in New York, on May 17, 2009. The brochure includes a remembrance by Margaret D. Stetz, titled "The Art of Jayne Mangino (1950-2009)."
