John W. Forney: The Letters of "Occasional"
This small collection, The Letters of “Occasional,” by the American editor and publisher John Wien Forney, comprises two volumes of news clippings “compiled and revised from the files of The Press by James Forney,” the son of John Forney. The news clippings represent the elder Forney’s editorial column in the Philadelphia Press, spanning the dates August 30, 1857-June 25, 1861.
Michael Bartholomew Mahony memorandum book
This collection consists primarily of a memorandum book kept by Philadelphia merchant Michael Bartholomew Mahony between 1879 and 1883. Mahony recorded observations on the weather, local and international news, household activity, financial transactions, and the deaths of friends, family members, and acquaintances. The collection also contains two photographs and a number of loose receipts, newspaper clippings, and other pieces of paper ephemera.
