Abstract

The Black Family Papers contain 174 items, including letters, greeting cards, postcards, telegrams, pamphlets, programs, photographs, and diaries pertaining to Helen Black Stewart, Lynam Stewart and other members of the Black Family. The papers span the dates 1889-1982, with the bulk of the material dating from 1917-1919 when Willard Black, Helen Black's brother, served in World War I.

Abstract The journal of Dr. Stanley Hart Osborn describes his work with the Red Cross in Serbia and Montenegro during World War I, where he joined a group of doctors and sanitary engineers volunteering to fight typhus and other epidemic diseases. The journal is a carbon copy of a typescript of the daily journal kept by Osborn from May 1915 to Jan 1916 and relates his experiences as a member of a neutral organization during the war.
