The Abbey Theatre collection comprises playbills and a small number of additional items for productions of the Abbey Theatre, established during 1904 in Dublin as a venue for Irish playwrights.

This collection consists of the typed playscript, "Black Oliver," which is subtitled "A Play in One Act." According to the Dictionary of Irish Literature, this play was performed at the Abbey Theatre in 1927.

Irish literary critic and biographer Joseph M. Hone (1882-1959) wrote ten letters to Lady Hylda Henrietta Wrench (1879-1955) in 1906, discussing current literature and Irish theatre. A poem titled "Mars," mentioned in the letters and written in Hone's hand, is also included.

The Bernard McKenna Collection Related to Irish Theater and Writers comprises three series of materials related to Bernard McKenna’s research toward the Dictionary of Irish Literature (1996) and his own research of Irish authors and theaters spanning the dates between 1983 and 1996. The collection consists of books, playbills, letters, posters, typescripts, and other ephemera related to the represented writers and theater companies.

Including letters, essays, poems, and a variety of other materials, the papers provide an overview of the life and work of Irish businessman, politician, and playwright Frank O'Donnell.

The Brian Phelan papers document forty years of the literary career of Irish-born playwright and screenwriter Brian Phelan (born 1934). Phelan's adaptations and docudramas focus on Irish characters, the issues of Irish emigration, socialist and feminist themes, and major world events. The collection, which spans from the 1960s to the 2000s, comprises Phelan's working and project files and include correspondence, screenplays, scripts, contracts, photographs, and research.
