Cornelius Masten papers

Abstract

Cornelius Masten was a mid-nineteenth-century resident of the town of Milo, village of Penn Yan, Yates County, New York State. He was a lawyer, the first judge of Yates County, and a Superior Court Councillor. The collection consists of business and personal correspondence, legal documents, and receipts. The personal correspondence is primarily between Masten and his sons (names unknown). Legal documents regarding loans and land purchase, and receipts are also included.

Abstract

Samuel Meredith (1741–1817) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of merchant Reese Meredith and Martha (Carpenter) Meredith. After being educated privately in Philadelphia and Chester, Pennsylvania, Samuel Meredith joined his father’s business in Philadelphia. The collection of Samuel Meredith Letters and Documents, spans the dates 1786 to 1798. The collection includes twenty-five letters, notes, or receipts written to Samuel Meredith.
