The common shore : uncorrected proofs and letter
Scope and Content Note
This small collection comprises the author's uncorrected proofs for Robert Kelley's "The Common Shore" and an accompanying letter, dated June 19, 1969, to Black Sparrow publisher John Martin.
In addition to Kelly's corrections, the proofs bear an inscription on the title page written by the author to the publisher, John Martin of Black Sparrow Press. Kelley's three-page letter written to John Martin lists corrections and offers suggestions for the design of "The Common Shore."

Robert Kelly (1935- )
American poet, short story writer, essayist, novelist, editor, and educator Robert Kelly has created a large body of work, much of which is experimental and which focuses on different modes of expression.
He has also encouraged other writers of experimental poetry and fiction through developing writing courses, holding workshops. Kelly has promoted their work in several literary magazines which he co-founded, such as Chelsea Review, Trobar, Matter, and Sulfur. Kelly is the Asher B. Edelman Professor of Languages and Literature at Bard College in New York, where he has taught since 1961.
