Account books

This daybook was kept between 1817 and 1818 at an unidentified general store located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, that sold foodstuffs, tobacco products, finished clothing and accessories, textiles, and other miscellaneous items. The book contains a chronological account of customers’ debts and, occasionally, their credit payments.

These three volumes are ledgers kept by blacksmith Rowland Mahaffey from 1808 to 1820. Mahaffey likely had his blacksmith shop in New Castle County, Delaware, or Cecil County, Maryland.

The notebook features mathematical problems and solutions related to the principles of trigonometry and the surveying of land. The latter part of the volume contains an account book listing wages due for farm labor.

The Joseph Brevitt Townsend papers, spanning the dates 1810-1917 (bulk dates 1840-1896), document the professional career, and to a lesser extent the personal life, of the Philadelphia lawyer, Joseph Brevitt Townsend.

This docket book is a register of debt litigation and collection kept by James M. Watson, a justice of the peace in New Castle County, Delaware, between 1875 and 1883.

This account book records financial judgments awarded to the firm of White and Doharty of Sussex County, Delaware, dating between 1810 and 1822. It also contains information related to the administration of Alexander White’s estate and the collection of debts on behalf of the Doharty family by Joshua A. Ellegood, dated 1822 to 1834.

The James Patriot Wilson docket book, also known as Wilson's Red Book, is a small, red leather notebook of approximately 430 handwritten pages recording Delaware court cases from 1792 to 1801, argued before the Court of Common Pleas, Court of Quarter Sessions, Delaware Supreme Court, Court of Oyer and Terminer, Court of Chancery, and the High Court of Errors and Appeals.
