Greeting cards

The Black Family Papers contain 174 items, including letters, greeting cards, postcards, telegrams, pamphlets, programs, photographs, and diaries pertaining to Helen Black Stewart, Lynam Stewart and other members of the Black Family. The papers span the dates 1889-1982, with the bulk of the material dating from 1917-1919 when Willard Black, Helen Black's brother, served in World War I.

Eleven letters from Kay Boyle to Pat Pomerleau (two of the letters were dictated to an assistant by Boyle), the other nine are written by Boyle, dated 1971 through 1989.

Gérard Charrière (1935- ) is a Swiss book artist and painter. The Gérard Charrière papers consist of correspondence, artists' books, catalogs, brochures, periodicals, postcards, artworks, sketches, and printed ephemera collected and created by Charrière. The bulk of the collection comprises correspondence and materials from Charrière’s artist friends and colleagues.

This nineteenth-century children's scrapbook bears the initials "A.B." and the date 1891 in cross stitch on a small oval canvas label affixed to a red cloth cover. The scrapbook features both German and English trade cards; collectible scraps of flowers, animals, children, and flowers; visiting cards; New Year cards; color printed cartoons of Grimm fairy tales and rhymes in German; and other color printed images.

Family papers relating to the poet and children’s author Elizabeth Coatsworth, including letters to Coatsworth from the English poet and novelist L.A.G. Strong and from the American author Josephine Pinckney, as well as letters to Coatsworth’s husband, the writer Henry Beston.

This small collection of Cuala Industries records includes business correspondence from Elizabeth and Lily Yeats, as well as hand-colored cards and broadsides from the Cuala Press.

Professor Emeritus of marine studies Franklin C. Daiber (1919-2003) and his wife Joanne Currier Daiber (1927-2007) were two of the first marine scientists hired by the University of Delaware in the 1950s. The Franklin C. and Joanne Currier Daiber papers include correspondence, photographs, negatives, artwork, and publications documenting their personal relationships and professional research and scholarship as marine scientists at the University of Delaware in the mid-twentieth century.

The papers consist of a greeting card, a Delaware poetry day dinner program, two poems, "Alive This Night" and "Martian Landscape" (initialed and dated), and newspaper clippings related to Abbie Huston Evans, a poet, born in New England, who later worked and taught in Philadelphia.

This nineteenth-century scrap album, apparently compiled by a British child named "Fred," contains colorful scraps of animals, children, British sailors in uniform, rowers, flowers, birds, and other decorative items. There are also a number of small printed images, Bible verses, and Christmas, New Year's, Easter, and birthday greeting cards. The cover of this album is embossed black and gold on red cloth in a Japonesque design of the Aesthetic Movement.

This gift book was used as a scrapbook by Lillian Ann Gibbins to commemorate her graduation from St. Elizabeth Academy in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1926.

This nineteenth-century American children's scrapbook bears the inscription "To Ella, Much Love from Edith and Edna." The scrapbook features trade cards; Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, and New Year's greeting cards; collectible scraps of flowers, animals, and children; one silk program for "Nunnemacher's Grand Opera" featuring a performance of Martha by the Milwaukee Philharmonic Society.

This nineteenth-century American scrapbook, apparently belonging to a child named Harry Anderson, contains visiting cards, rewards of merit, holiday cards, trade cards, prayer cards, die-cut images and art prints.

Betty Lee Hutchinson (1925-2020), a Democrat and Newark City Council member (1977-1980 and 1984-1988) was born November 18, 1925, in Uniontown, PA, to Harry J. Truman, Sr. (1897-1965), and Merle Carte Truman (1901-2001). The Betty Lee Hutchinson papers document the personal interests and civic activities of a woman with ties to Newark, Delaware, and the University of Delaware community.

The William A. Kruse collection related to historic Delaware homes and churches contains lithograph prints, tear sheets, clippings, and ephemera chronicling prominent Delaware landmarks.

Seven Christmas and New Year's greeting cards and one letter from Frederica, Delaware, artist Ethel P. B. Leach to Nellie Morton. The images on the cards are printed from etchings by Leach or have printed reproductions of her paintings.

Educator, editor, author, amateur printer, and proponent of the private press, J. Ben Lieberman is widely regarded as the father of the twentieth-century chappel movement in the United States. The J. Ben Lieberman Papers reflect some of the accomplishments of J. Ben Lieberman and his wife Elizabeth Koller Lieberman.

The Littell family papers include correspondence, letters, scrapbooks, commonplace books, copybooks, published material, ephemera, realia, financial records, diaries, books, artwork, photographs, greeting cards, postcards, clippings, and research notes created or collected by members of the Morris, Harrington, Littell, and Winslow families of Pennsylvania and Delaware from circa 1808 to 2004.
