American lecture manager and memoirist James B. Pond represented American and British explorers, preachers, politicians, scientists, and writers, on the lecture circuit from 1874 to his death in 1903. The majority of the collection is comprised of the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Pond; also included are manuscripts and ephemera relating to Pond's family and business.

This diary was kept by writer Maria Louise Pool of Brooklyn, New York, for the year 1873. Entries center predominantly around Pool's domestic and social life, the weather, and her ongoing projects involving the writing of fiction.

A native of Wilmington, Delaware, artist, illustrator, and author Katharine Pyle (1863-1938), achieved recognition through her short stories, poems, and plays for children. The Katharine Pyle papers, spanning approximately 1904–1929, consists of material related to her artistic, business, and personal affairs.

British writer, critic, and journalist Rebecca West (1892-1983) wrote fifty-five letters and postcards to her friend Barbara Back between 1955 and 1968, commenting on her literary work and travels, various political scandals, and the health and social lives of mutual friends.

American author and publisher Robert McAlmon (1896-1956) wrote ten letters to the publisher and magazine editor Edward Titus (born 1880) between 1928 and 1930, concerning several works that McAlmon hoped to distribute through Titus's Paris bookstore.

The collection comprises eleven letters from Hubert Selby, Jr., to journalist and friend John S. Friedman which include an autobiographical statement by Selby as well as a typed draft of a short story entitled, “A Little Respect.”

American Beat scholar Jennie Skerl (born 1944) met American author and composer Paul Bowles (1910-1999) on a visit to Tangier, Morocco, in 1985. This small collection comprises correspondence with Bowles and others, as well as Skerl's research materials related to Paul Bowles and his literary circle in Tangier.

The Berkeley, California-based Sombre Reptiles Press was founded in 1978 by poet Jerry Ratch and artist Mary Ann Hayden. This small collection consists of approximately one linear foot of material related to the operation of the press and the publication of its works, spanning the dates 1977 and 1994, with the bulk of the material dating from 1977 to 1982.
