Myrna L. Bair served in the Delaware Senate from 1980 to 2000, representing Delaware's 5th District as a member of the Republican Party. For sixteen years, she held a legislative leadership position, including fourteen years as Senate minority leader and two years as minority whip. The bulk of the Myrna Bair papers documents her time as a senator and consists of legislation, correspondence, personal notes, press clippings, and other materials.

The David T. Bazelon papers, spanning the dates 1935-1996, includes manuscripts, correspondence, books, clippings, and photographs documenting the work of the social critic and member of the post-war "New York Intellectuals," David T. Bazelon.

U.S. Representative and Governor of Delaware, Benjamin T. Biggs, wrote a temperance speech, two love poems, and a letter to an editor. Also included is a bill from the Portsmouth, Virginia, Y.M.C.A. to a B.T. Biggs in 1917.

The Elbert Chance (1926– ) collection consists of preservation photocopies of several articles written by Chance for the local Wilmington, Delaware periodical News Journal.

One photocopy typescript of an address at the Founders' Day Exercises, Academy of Newark, University of Delaware, delivered on November 21, 1982, by Delaware lawyer, Edward W. Cooch, Jr., entitled, "Francis Alison, His Life and Influence on His Times." Includes pages 1-7, 9-14.

The Delaware Miscellany collection includes three large, green buckram-bound volumes compiled by William Ditto Lewis, which contain various documents pertaining to the history of Delaware and the surrounding region, and the University of Delaware.

Written copy of speech delivered by Deputy Governor of Colonial Pennsylvania, Charles Gookin, to the Delaware Assembly, on March 27, 1716, together with the response from the Assembly's Speaker, Jasper Yeates. Also included is a written copy of a speech delivered by Gookin to the Assembly on May 2, 1716. The speeches and the response concern difficulties between Gookin and the Assembly.

This collection consists of the Carl Sandburg files kept by BMI president and radio pioneer Carl Haverlin (1899-1985) spanning the years 1909-1964. During Haverlin's years at BMI he developed a close working relationship and friendship with Carl Sandburg.

Clarice U. Heckert (1911-2005), a Republican and community activist, served as representative to the Delaware General Assembly in the 11th (1965-1968) and the 9th districts (1969-1974), in the Wilmington area, between 1964 and 1974.The Clarice U. Heckert papers document the decade-long political career of a northern Delaware woman in the Delaware General Assembly during the mid-twentieth century.

The Honorable Margaret Rose Henry was elected in 1994 as the Delaware State Senator for the 2nd Senatorial District (Wilmington East). The Margaret Rose Henry Speeches comprise eighteen short political addresses delivered between 1994 and 1995 by the Delaware Senator to various constituent groups, primarily in Wilmington.

The Everett C. & Louise Stanton Johnson papers concern the personal affairs of prominent Delaware publisher and politician Everett C. Johnson (1877-1926) and his wife Louise Staton Johnson (1882-1977). In addition, the collection contains material from their Newark publishing house, the Press of Kells, which brought the Arts and Crafts Movement to the community from 1916 to 1918.

The Horacio D. Lewis papers consist of Dr. Lewis’ letters, articles, and publications related to his personal and civic involvement and recognition of activities associated with the civil rights of the Latino and African-American communities in Delaware and the desegregation of Delaware’s public schools.
